Building a Rate Analysis for an item

Break down an item's cost into materials, labour, and overheads.

Rate Analysis works out how much one unit of a work item actually costs, by listing the exact materials and labour it consumes. It is set at the item level (master data), so once you analyse "RCC M20 Concrete" the rate is reused by every project's BOQ that includes that item.

  1. 1Go to Rate Analysis and select an item from your Items of Work.
  2. 2Add components: pick a material or labour record, and enter the quantity it takes per unit of the item. For labour, you can enter productivity (output per day) instead and the quantity is worked out for you.
  3. 3CATBOQ multiplies each component's quantity by its current master rate and totals them into the item's rate.
  4. 4Save. Any BOQ using this item will now auto-fill this computed rate.

Tip: Because Rate Analysis pulls live rates from the Materials and Labour libraries, updating a material's base rate automatically recalculates every item that uses it - you don't have to redo the analysis by hand.
